National Sport Associations
Systems, governance, and pathways for sustained success.
National Sport Associations (NSAs) are national bodies that govern and unify individual sports in Singapore. As national custodians of sport, NSAs are responsible for developing, promoting and regulating their sport at all levels — grassroots, community, competitive and elite.
The NSAs' mandate to represent their sport is grounded in the support and recognition of the local sporting community, whilst formal governing authority of an NSA is established through affiliation or membership with the sport’s International Federation (IF).
High Performance Sport Planning
NSAs build sustainable pathways that identify, develop and support Team Singapore athletes to Win Well - Achieving success at regional, continental and global levels while inspiring Singaporeans through their sporting journey.
Governance & Administration
NSAs serve as the cornerstone of sport governance and administration in Singapore. They hold the authority to establish rules, regulations, and standards for their sports, ensuring alignment with international sporting federations whilst adapting to Singapore’s context. NSAs are the official representatives of their sports to international bodies, government agencies, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
Pathway Development
NSAs implement pathway development systems which guide athletes from grassroots participation through to elite performance levels in Singapore. Pathways are sport-specific and provide clear progression routes for participants at every level. NSAs take charge of technical development of coaches and officials. They strike a balance between developing athletes capable of achieving excellence and maintaining broad-based participation and following of their sports.
